Position Overview:
The Mechanic Fabricator will play a key role in maintaining and repairing a wide range of equipment. You will be responsible for fabricating custom parts, diagnosing mechanical issues, and ensuring that all machinery is functioning at its highest level of performance. This is a hands-on role that requires both technical skill and a strong understanding of mechanics, hydraulics and electrical components.

The Mechanic Fabricator will play a key role in maintaining and repairing a wide range of equipment. You will be responsible for fabricating custom parts, diagnosing mechanical issues, and ensuring that all machinery is functioning at its highest level of performance. This is a hands-on role that requires both technical skill and a strong understanding of mechanics, hydraulics and electrical components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabricate, weld, and repair components for construction equipment, including tri-axle trucks, trailers, tank trucks and asphalt equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in construction equipment.
- Perform welding, machining, and metalworking to fabricate custom parts based on blueprints, CAD drawings, or specifications. Including CNC Plasma, MIG & TIG welding.
- Repair or replace defective parts or systems, including engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems.
- Maintain equipment by performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Collaborate with other mechanics and employees to develop cost-effective and efficient repair and fabrication solutions.
- Ensure all work adheres to safety standards, company policies, and quality control procedures.
- Keep accurate records of all work performed, including parts used and labor hours.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workshop.
- Proven experience as a Mechanic and/or Fabricator in the construction equipment or heavy machinery industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction equipment systems, including hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Proficient in welding, fabrication, and machining techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, stick welding, plasma cutting, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files.
- Experience with heavy equipment troubleshooting and repair (e.g., engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems).
- Knowledge of construction equipment maintenance procedures and safety standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with customers when necessary.
- Valid Driver’s License, CDL Preferred.
- Certification in welding or fabrication (e.g., AWS, ASME).
- Experience with CNC machinery and advanced fabrication techniques.
- Familiarity with construction equipment diagnostic software and tools.
